Principal Research Scientist - Organic Chemistry

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Principal Research Scientist with a strong background in Organic Chemistry to join their pioneering R&D division located in Coventry . Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and execution of complex multi-step synthesis projects for novel organic molecules.
• Develop and optimize synthetic routes, troubleshoot challenging reactions, and improve existing processes.
• Conduct thorough literature surveys and stay abreast of the latest advancements in organic synthesis.
• Characterize synthesized compounds using advanced analytical techniques (NMR, MS, HPLC, etc.).
• Mentor and guide junior chemists, fostering a collaborative and innovative research environment.
• Contribute to patent applications and technical reports for internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry or a closely related field.
• A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in synthetic organic chemistry research, preferably within the pharmaceutical or chemical industry.
• Demonstrated expertise in a wide range of modern synthetic methodologies and reaction mechanisms.
• Strong skills in spectroscopic and chromatographic techniques for compound characterization.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and a creative approach to synthetic challenges.
• Proficiency in managing research projects and directing laboratory activities.
