About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced Principal Scientist in Analytical Chemistry to lead their analytical services department in Reading . This senior role requires extensive expertise in developing, validating, and implementing a wide range of analytical methods to support pharmaceutical development and quality control. You will be responsible for overseeing analytical projects, mentoring junior scientists, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. This is a key position for an analytical chemist seeking to drive scientific excellence and contribute to the development of high-quality pharmaceutical products in Reading .
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and validate advanced analytical methods (e.g., HPLC, GC, MS, spectroscopy) for drug substance and product characterization.
- Oversee analytical testing, data interpretation, and reporting to support regulatory submissions.
- Troubleshoot analytical instrumentation and resolve complex technical challenges.
- Lead method transfer activities to internal and external manufacturing sites.
- Mentor and train junior analytical scientists, fostering scientific rigor and technical expertise.
- Ensure adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and other relevant regulatory guidelines.
Requirements
- PhD in Analytical Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in pharmaceutical analytical chemistry , with a strong emphasis on method development and validation.
- Expertise in various analytical techniques, including chromatography (HPLC, UPLC, GC) and mass spectrometry.
- In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements (ICH, FDA, EMA) for pharmaceutical analysis.
- Proven ability to lead projects, manage timelines, and mentor scientific staff.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and strong written and verbal communication abilities.
