Principal Scientist - Analytical Development

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Principal Scientist to lead their Analytical Development efforts in Reading . This senior role is crucial for establishing and validating robust analytical methods essential for characterization and quality control of novel therapeutics. You will spearhead method development, troubleshooting, and transfer activities, ensuring scientific rigor and regulatory compliance. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned analytical chemist to drive critical aspects of drug development within a collaborative R&D setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development, optimization, and validation of analytical methods (e.g., HPLC, UPLC, GC, MS, spectroscopy) for small molecules and biologics.
• Oversee the characterization of drug substance and drug product using advanced analytical techniques.
• Troubleshoot complex analytical issues and provide scientific expertise to resolve method-related challenges.
• Ensure all analytical activities comply with relevant regulatory guidelines (e.g., ICH, GMP).
• Manage method transfer activities to QC or external partners, ensuring successful implementation.
• Mentor junior scientists and contribute to the strategic planning of analytical development activities.

Requirements

• PhD in Analytical Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, or a related scientific discipline.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in analytical development within the pharmaceutical or biotech industry.
• In-depth knowledge of various analytical techniques and their application to pharmaceutical development.
• Proven experience in method validation and transfer according to regulatory expectations.
• Strong understanding of quality control principles and GMP requirements.
• Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
