Principal Scientist - Biologics Discovery

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly accomplished Principal Scientist to lead critical initiatives in Biologics Discovery at their state-of-the-art research facility in Oxford . This leadership role is integral to identifying and developing novel protein-based therapeutics. You will leverage your deep expertise in protein engineering, antibody development, and biologics characterization to drive projects from concept to candidate selection. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and optimization of novel biologic drug candidates, including monoclonal antibodies and other protein therapeutics.
• Oversee the generation, engineering, and screening of antibody libraries and other protein scaffolds.
• Direct efforts in cell-based assays, biophysical characterization, and pharmacokinetic studies to evaluate biologic candidates.
• Collaborate closely with immunology, pharmacology, and CMC teams to advance programs towards clinical development.
• Provide strategic direction for the biologics discovery platform, identifying and implementing new technologies.
• Mentor and guide a team of scientists, fostering a culture of innovation and scientific excellence.

Requirements

• PhD in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Immunology, or a related life science field.
• Minimum of 8 years of post-doctoral and/or industry experience in biologics discovery and development.
• Extensive experience with antibody discovery techniques, protein engineering, and therapeutic protein characterization.
• Proven track record of successfully advancing biologic candidates through discovery phases.
• Strong understanding of protein structure-function relationships and immunological principles.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills.
