About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly accomplished Principal Scientist to lead critical research and development initiatives within their Pharmaceutical Research division in Reading . This senior role is pivotal in driving the discovery and development of novel therapeutics. You will guide research strategies, manage complex projects, mentor scientific staff, and foster a culture of innovation within the Scientific Research & Development team. Key Responsibilities

• Lead and direct complex research projects focused on the discovery and development of new pharmaceutical agents.
• Develop innovative research strategies and methodologies to address key scientific challenges in drug development.
• Manage a team of scientists and researchers, providing leadership, mentorship, and technical expertise.
• Oversee the design and execution of experiments, ensuring data integrity and scientific rigor.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including preclinical, clinical, and regulatory affairs, to advance projects through the development pipeline.
• Author scientific publications, present findings at international meetings, and contribute to patent applications.

Requirements

• PhD in Pharmacology, Medicinal Chemistry, Biology, or a related discipline.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in pharmaceutical research and drug discovery.
• Proven track record of successfully leading complex R&D projects from discovery to preclinical stages.
• Extensive experience in designing and interpreting in vitro and in vivo studies for drug evaluation.
• Strong understanding of drug development processes, including regulatory requirements.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with a strong ability to influence and collaborate.
