About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced and visionary Principal Software Engineer to lead the development of their next-generation cloud platform in Leeds . You will be at the forefront of designing scalable, resilient, and secure cloud infrastructure solutions that power our core services. This senior role requires deep technical expertise, strategic thinking, and the ability to mentor a team of talented engineers. You will shape the technical direction of our cloud strategy, drive innovation, and ensure the platform meets the highest standards of performance and reliability, working in a hybrid model that balances remote flexibility with collaborative in-office sessions.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect, design, and implement highly scalable, available, and fault-tolerant cloud-native applications and services.
- Define and enforce engineering best practices, coding standards, and architectural patterns for cloud development.
- Lead technical design discussions, code reviews, and provide mentorship to software engineers.
- Collaborate with product management, operations, and other engineering teams to define roadmaps and deliver complex features.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues across the cloud stack, ensuring optimal performance and stability.
- Evaluate and integrate new technologies and tools to enhance the cloud platform's capabilities and efficiency.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a significant focus on cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Expertise in designing and building distributed systems, microservices architecture, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Proficiency in at least one major programming language such as Java, Python, Go, or C#.
- Strong understanding of containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
- Proven leadership skills and the ability to influence technical direction and mentor engineering teams.
