Principal Software Engineer - Cloud Platform

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced and visionary Principal Software Engineer to lead the development of their next-generation cloud platform in Leeds . Key Responsibilities

• Architect, design, and implement highly scalable, available, and fault-tolerant cloud-native applications and services.
• Define and enforce engineering best practices, coding standards, and architectural patterns for cloud development.
• Lead technical design discussions, code reviews, and provide mentorship to software engineers.
• Collaborate with product management, operations, and other engineering teams to define roadmaps and deliver complex features.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues across the cloud stack, ensuring optimal performance and stability.
• Evaluate and integrate new technologies and tools to enhance the cloud platform's capabilities and efficiency.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a significant focus on cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Expertise in designing and building distributed systems, microservices architecture, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Proficiency in at least one major programming language such as Java, Python, Go, or C#.
• Strong understanding of containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
• Proven leadership skills and the ability to influence technical direction and mentor engineering teams.
