About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced and influential Principal Software Engineer to join their innovative, fully remote team in Cambridge . This senior role offers the opportunity to shape the technical vision, drive architectural decisions, and mentor engineering teams working on complex, cutting-edge software solutions. You will tackle challenging technical problems, contribute significantly to the product roadmap, and help foster a culture of technical excellence and innovation within a distributed workforce.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the design and architecture of scalable, high-performance software systems and services.
Develop robust, efficient, and maintainable code, setting high standards for quality and best practices.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams, guiding them through complex challenges.
Collaborate with product management, design, and other engineering leads to define technical strategy and roadmap.
Identify and address technical debt, performance bottlenecks, and scalability issues.
Drive the adoption of new technologies and methodologies to improve development processes and product quality.

Requirements

10+ years of professional experience in software engineering, with a proven track record of technical leadership.
Deep expertise in designing and building complex distributed systems and microservices.
Proficiency in multiple programming languages and paradigms (e.g., Java , Python, C++, Functional Programming).
Strong understanding of cloud-native architectures, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and infrastructure as code.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, crucial for effective collaboration in a remote environment.
Experience with performance tuning, scalability testing, and system observability.
