About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced and influential Principal Software Engineer to join their innovative, fully remote team in Cambridge . This senior role offers the opportunity to shape the technical vision, drive architectural decisions, and mentor engineering teams working on complex, cutting-edge software solutions. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and architecture of scalable, high-performance software systems and services.
- Develop robust, efficient, and maintainable code, setting high standards for quality and best practices.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams, guiding them through complex challenges.
- Collaborate with product management, design, and other engineering leads to define technical strategy and roadmap.
- Identify and address technical debt, performance bottlenecks, and scalability issues.
- Drive the adoption of new technologies and methodologies to improve development processes and product quality.
Requirements
- 10+ years of professional experience in software engineering, with a proven track record of technical leadership.
- Deep expertise in designing and building complex distributed systems and microservices.
- Proficiency in multiple programming languages and paradigms (e.g., Java , Python, C++, Functional Programming).
- Strong understanding of cloud-native architectures, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and infrastructure as code.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, crucial for effective collaboration in a remote environment.
- Experience with performance tuning, scalability testing, and system observability.
