About the Role
Our client is looking for a highly experienced and technically adept Principal Software Engineer to join their elite engineering team, operating under a hybrid model in Reading . You will be a key technical leader, driving the architecture and implementation of complex, mission-critical systems. This role demands deep technical expertise, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to mentor and influence other engineers. You will tackle the most challenging technical problems, contribute to strategic technical direction, and ensure the delivery of high-quality, scalable software solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and architecture of large-scale, complex software systems and platforms.
- Develop robust, scalable, and maintainable code, setting high standards for the engineering team.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to software engineers across multiple teams.
- Drive the adoption of new technologies and best practices within the engineering organization.
- Collaborate with product management and other stakeholders to define technical roadmaps and strategies.
- Troubleshoot and resolve the most critical and challenging technical issues.
Requirements
- 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a significant focus on system design and architecture.
- Proven track record of leading the development of complex, large-scale software systems.
- Expertise in one or more programming languages (e.g., Java, C++, Python, C#) and architectural patterns.
- Deep understanding of distributed systems , microservices, and cloud-native architectures.
- Experience with performance tuning, scalability, and reliability engineering.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, essential for influencing technical decisions.
