Process Chemical Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a diligent and innovative Process Chemical Engineer to join their dynamic team in Newcastle upon Tyne . This role is crucial for enhancing and maintaining the efficiency and safety of our chemical manufacturing operations. You will work on exciting projects, from conceptual design through to plant implementation, collaborating closely with operations, R&D, and project engineering teams. Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize chemical processes for new and existing products, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
• Conduct feasibility studies, process modeling, and simulations to evaluate and improve process performance.
• Oversee the implementation of process modifications and capital projects, providing on-site and remote technical support.
• Troubleshoot operational issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to maintain plant efficiency.
• Collaborate with R&D to facilitate the successful transfer of new technologies from lab scale to commercial production.
• Ensure accurate and comprehensive process documentation, including P&IDs and operating manuals.

Requirements

• Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
• 2-5 years of experience in a process engineering role within the chemical or pharmaceutical industry.
• Experience with process simulation software and data analysis techniques.
• Familiarity with process safety principles, including HAZOP analysis.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with good communication abilities.
