About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated Process Chemist to join their innovative team in Portsmouth , focusing on the development and manufacturing of high-performance coatings and adhesives. This hands-on role is critical for translating laboratory formulations into scalable, efficient production processes. You will work closely with research and development scientists to optimise chemical synthesis, improve product consistency, and ensure cost-effective manufacturing. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and optimise chemical processes for the manufacture of coatings and adhesives.
- Conduct experiments to assess reaction kinetics, material properties, and process parameters.
- Troubleshoot manufacturing issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.
- Collaborate with R&D chemists and production teams to ensure smooth technology transfer and scale-up.
- Implement quality control measures to ensure product consistency and meet performance specifications.
- Maintain detailed records of experiments, process changes, and production data.
Requirements
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in process chemistry, preferably in coatings, adhesives, or polymer science.
- Strong understanding of chemical synthesis, formulation, and process scale-up.
- Experience with analytical techniques for material characterisation.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and methodical approach to process improvement.
- Ability to work effectively in a laboratory and production environment.
