Process Control Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Process Control Engineer to join their innovative and remote-first team, based remotely within the UK but with a focus on supporting operations near Bristol . This role is crucial for optimizing and automating chemical processes to ensure efficiency, stability, and safety. You will design, implement, and maintain advanced control strategies and systems, working closely with plant engineers and operations teams to achieve optimal performance. Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement advanced process control strategies and solutions for chemical plants.
• Configure and maintain Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), and SCADA systems.
• Develop and troubleshoot complex control algorithms and interlocks to ensure safe and efficient operation.
• Collaborate with process engineers to identify opportunities for process optimization through advanced control.
• Provide remote technical support and troubleshooting for control systems and instrumentation.
• Stay abreast of new technologies in process automation and control to recommend improvements.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in process control engineering, preferably within the chemical or process industries.
• Proficiency with major DCS and PLC platforms (e.g., Honeywell Experion, Siemens PCS 7, Rockwell ControlLogix).
• Strong understanding of control theory, instrumentation, and industrial communication protocols.
• Experience with simulation tools and model predictive control (MPC) is a significant advantage.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a remote, collaborative setting.
