About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled Process Design Engineer to contribute to their innovative projects in Plymouth . This is an on-site role where you will be responsible for developing conceptual and detailed process designs for new chemical plants and modifications to existing facilities. You will utilize your expertise in process simulation, P&ID development, and equipment specification to deliver robust and efficient engineering solutions. This position is perfect for an engineer who enjoys the technical challenges of design and wants to make a tangible impact on major engineering undertakings.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop process designs, including mass and energy balances, PFDs, and P&IDs.
- Utilize process simulation software (e.g., Aspen HYSYS, CHEMCAD) for design and optimization.
- Specify process equipment such as pumps, reactors, heat exchangers, and distillation columns.
- Perform hydraulic calculations, relief studies, and HAZOP reviews.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams (mechanical, electrical, instrumentation).
- Ensure designs comply with relevant industry codes, standards, and client specifications.
Requirements
- Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in process design engineering.
- Proficiency in process simulation and P&ID development software.
- Strong understanding of chemical engineering fundamentals and equipment design.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, on-site engineering environment.
