Process Design Engineer - Chemical

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Process Design Engineer with a strong background in the chemical industry for their facility in Liverpool . This role is crucial for the conceptualization and detailed design of new chemical plants and modifications to existing facilities. You will be responsible for developing process flow diagrams, P&IDs, equipment specifications, and performing process calculations to ensure designs are efficient, safe, and cost-effective. Key Responsibilities

• Develop process designs for new chemical plants and modifications, including PFDs, P&IDs, and mass/energy balances.
• Specify process equipment such as reactors, heat exchangers, pumps, and separation units.
• Perform process simulations and calculations to ensure design integrity and optimization.
• Conduct Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) and incorporate safety considerations into designs.
• Collaborate with project management, instrumentation, mechanical, and other engineering disciplines to ensure integrated project delivery.
• Review and approve vendor documentation and ensure constructed facilities meet design specifications.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in process design engineering within the chemical or petrochemical sector.
• Proficiency with process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS) and CAD tools for P&ID development.
• Strong understanding of process safety principles and relevant industry codes and standards.
• Experience in generating equipment specifications and datasheets.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
