About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled Process Design Engineer to join their prominent petrochemical facility in Newcastle upon Tyne . This role focuses on the conceptual and detailed design of new process units and the modification of existing ones to enhance capacity, efficiency, and safety. You will be a key player in translating project requirements into viable engineering solutions, working closely with multidisciplinary teams. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in petrochemical processes and a passion for innovative engineering design, contributing to the company's commitment to operational excellence and sustainability within the Tyne and Wear region.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) for new and existing plants.
- Perform process simulations and calculations to determine equipment specifications and operating parameters.
- Conduct feasibility studies and hazard and operability (HAZOP) reviews.
- Specify major process equipment, including reactors, distillation columns, heat exchangers, and pumps.
- Ensure designs comply with all relevant industry codes, standards, and environmental regulations.
- Provide technical support during the construction, commissioning, and start-up phases of projects.
Requirements
- Degree in Chemical Engineering or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in process design within the petrochemical or oil and gas industry.
- Demonstrated expertise in process simulation software and P&ID development.
- Thorough understanding of unit operations and thermodynamics in petrochemical contexts.
- Experience with safety studies and risk assessment methodologies.
- Ability to work effectively in project teams and manage multiple design tasks concurrently.
