Process Design Engineer - Petrochemicals

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Process Design Engineer with a strong background in the petrochemical industry for a fully remote position. You will play a critical role in the conceptualization, design, and development of new petrochemical processes and facilities. Working from home, you will collaborate with a global team of engineers, project managers, and stakeholders to deliver innovative and efficient process solutions. This role requires a deep understanding of refining, petrochemical reactions, separation technologies, and process safety. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development of process designs from conceptual studies through to detailed engineering phases.
• Prepare key process deliverables, including PFDs, P&IDs, mass and energy balances, and equipment specifications.
• Conduct process simulations and modeling to optimize designs and ensure operability and safety.
• Perform process hazard analyses (PHAs) and ensure compliance with industry safety standards and regulations.
• Evaluate and select appropriate technologies and equipment for petrochemical processes.
• Provide technical support during the construction, commissioning, and start-up phases of projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering.
• 10+ years of experience in process design engineering, with a significant focus on the petrochemical industry.
• Extensive experience with process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS) and CAD tools.
• In-depth knowledge of petrochemical unit operations, reaction engineering, and separation processes.
• Strong understanding of process safety management (PSM) principles and industry best practices.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to excel in a remote environment.
