About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled Process Design Engineer with a background in the pharmaceutical industry to join their innovative team in Bristol . This role is crucial in the design and development of new manufacturing processes for pharmaceutical products, ensuring compliance with stringent regulatory requirements (e.g., GMP). You will be involved in conceptual design, detailed engineering, and scale-up activities, working closely with multidisciplinary teams. The ideal candidate will have a strong grasp of pharmaceutical manufacturing principles, excellent design skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality, compliant processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop robust chemical processes for the manufacture of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs) and intermediates.
- Create process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and equipment specifications.
- Conduct process simulations, mass and energy balances, and risk assessments (e.g., HAZOP).
- Ensure designs comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), safety regulations, and environmental standards.
- Collaborate with project managers, R&D scientists, and equipment vendors throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support commissioning and validation activities for new process equipment and facilities.
Requirements
- Degree in Chemical Engineering .
- 5+ years of experience in process design within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
- Strong knowledge of GMP requirements and regulatory guidelines (FDA, EMA).
- Proficiency in process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus) and CAD tools.
- Experience with unit operations common in pharmaceutical manufacturing (e.g., crystallization, filtration, drying).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
