About the Role
Our client requires a skilled Process Design Engineer to join their established engineering team in Derby . This role focuses on the conceptual and detailed design of chemical processes and facilities, ensuring projects meet technical specifications, budget constraints, and safety standards. You will work on a variety of challenging projects, translating client needs into robust engineering solutions. This on-site position offers the opportunity to contribute to significant capital projects and gain valuable experience in plant design within the industrial sector in Derbyshire.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop process designs, including PFDs, P&IDs, equipment specifications, and mass/energy balances.
- Perform process simulations and calculations to optimize designs for efficiency and safety.
- Conduct feasibility studies and conceptual design work for new chemical plants and modifications.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams (mechanical, electrical, instrumentation) throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant industry codes, standards, and regulations.
- Support project management by providing technical input and estimates.
Requirements
- BEng or MSc in Chemical Engineering .
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in process design engineering, preferably in consultancy or EPC environments.
- Proficiency in process simulation software (e.g., Aspen HYSYS, UniSim) and CAD tools.
- Strong understanding of chemical unit operations, process safety, and environmental considerations.
- Excellent technical writing and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a project team on-site in Derby .
