Process Development Chemist - Remote

About the Role

Our client is looking for a talented Process Development Chemist to join their innovative research team, operating on a fully remote basis. This role is central to developing and optimizing chemical synthesis routes and processes for new active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and fine chemicals. You will work closely with chemical engineers and analytical scientists to translate laboratory discoveries into scalable, robust, and cost-effective manufacturing processes. Key Responsibilities

• Design and execute experiments to optimize reaction conditions, yields, and purity of chemical syntheses.
• Develop and validate new synthetic pathways for target molecules.
• Investigate and resolve challenges related to process impurities, stability, and scale-up.
• Characterize reaction intermediates and final products using appropriate analytical techniques.
• Collaborate closely with engineering teams to ensure smooth technology transfer to pilot and production scales.
• Maintain accurate and detailed laboratory records and prepare technical reports.

Requirements

• PhD or MSc in Organic Chemistry, Process Chemistry, or a related field.
• Proven experience in process chemistry and synthetic route development, ideally within the pharmaceutical or fine chemical industry.
• Hands-on experience with a wide range of synthetic organic chemistry techniques and analytical methods .
• Understanding of scale-up principles and challenges in chemical manufacturing.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and a meticulous approach to experimental work.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, effective in a remote team setting.
