About the Role
Our client is seeking a talented and innovative Process Development Chemist to join their cutting-edge research and development team. This fully remote position allows you to contribute to groundbreaking chemical synthesis and formulation projects from anywhere in the UK. You will play a crucial role in translating laboratory discoveries into viable, scalable manufacturing processes. This involves designing experiments, optimizing reaction conditions, and ensuring the robustness and reproducibility of chemical processes. You will collaborate closely with a remote team of scientists, engineers, and project managers, leveraging digital tools to drive innovation and achieve project milestones in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute laboratory experiments for the development and optimization of chemical synthesis routes.
- Investigate and resolve challenges related to reaction kinetics, selectivity, yield, and purification.
- Develop scalable and robust processes suitable for pilot plant and eventual commercial production.
- Characterize reaction products and intermediates using a range of analytical techniques (e.g., NMR, HPLC, GC-MS).
- Prepare detailed reports, technical documentation, and presentations on experimental findings and process recommendations.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams in a virtual setting to ensure seamless project progression.
Requirements
- Ph.D. or Master's degree in Organic Chemistry, Synthetic Chemistry, or a closely related field.
- Proven experience in synthetic route design, process optimization, and scale-up of chemical processes.
- Proficiency with modern analytical techniques for compound characterization and purity assessment.
- Strong understanding of reaction mechanisms, catalysis, and green chemistry principles.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a remote team.
- Demonstrated ability to document scientific work clearly and concisely.
