Process Development Engineer - Pharmaceutical

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Process Development Engineer with a focus on pharmaceutical manufacturing to join their team in Birmingham, West Midlands, UK . This role is crucial for developing and scaling up robust manufacturing processes for novel pharmaceutical products. You will be instrumental in bridging the gap between laboratory-scale research and full-scale production, ensuring that processes are safe, efficient, and compliant with stringent regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize pharmaceutical manufacturing processes, including upstream and downstream operations.
• Conduct process validation studies, risk assessments, and troubleshooting for manufacturing issues.
• Collaborate with formulation scientists and manufacturing personnel to ensure successful process transfer and scale-up.
• Author and review process development reports, validation protocols, and batch records.
• Implement process analytical technology (PAT) and other advanced manufacturing techniques.
• Ensure all activities adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and other relevant regulatory guidelines.

Requirements

• Degree in Chemical Engineering , Biochemical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline.
• Proven experience in pharmaceutical process development , scale-up, and validation.
• Familiarity with GMP regulations and guidelines relevant to drug manufacturing.
• Experience with various unit operations common in pharmaceutical production (e.g., filtration, chromatography, crystallization).
• Strong data analysis skills and experience with statistical process control (SPC).
• Excellent technical writing and communication abilities, with the capacity to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team in Birmingham .
