About the Role
Our client is actively seeking a dedicated Process Development Engineer to join their expanding operations in Birmingham . This role is crucial for driving innovation and efficiency in our chemical production processes. You will be responsible for researching, designing, and implementing new process technologies that enhance product quality and reduce operational costs. The successful candidate will work closely with research and development teams, production staff, and quality control to ensure seamless integration and validation of new processes, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence in Birmingham 's industrial landscape.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and scale up novel chemical processes from laboratory bench to pilot plant and full commercial scale.
- Conduct detailed process analysis, including mass and energy balances, P&IDs, and equipment specifications.
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase yield, reduce waste, and enhance safety.
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams to troubleshoot process deviations and implement corrective actions.
- Prepare technical reports, documentation, and presentations for internal stakeholders and regulatory bodies.
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends relevant to chemical process development.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in process development and/or chemical manufacturing.
- Proficiency in process modeling software and data analysis techniques.
- Strong understanding of unit operations, reaction engineering, and separation processes.
- Experience with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) or similar quality systems is advantageous.
- Excellent problem-solving capabilities and a results-oriented approach to project execution.
