About the Role

Our client is seeking a talented Process Development Engineer to contribute to their pioneering work in Birmingham . This role focuses on innovating and refining chemical manufacturing processes to enhance product quality, efficiency, and sustainability. You will work closely with research and development teams, as well as production staff, to scale up new chemical syntheses and optimize existing workflows. The ideal candidate will possess a strong theoretical foundation in chemical engineering and a practical aptitude for problem-solving in a manufacturing environment, playing a key part in the company's commitment to operational excellence and technological advancement.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and validate new chemical processes from laboratory scale through to pilot and full-scale production.
Optimize existing manufacturing processes to improve yield, reduce waste, and lower costs.
Design and conduct experiments to evaluate process parameters and materials.
Prepare detailed technical reports, process documentation, and operating procedures.
Collaborate with engineers and scientists to troubleshoot production issues and implement improvements.
Ensure all process development activities adhere to stringent safety and environmental regulations.

Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering .
3-5 years of experience in process development or chemical manufacturing.
Hands-on experience with process scale-up and optimization techniques.
Familiarity with statistical process control (SPC) and design of experiments (DOE).
Strong understanding of chemical reaction engineering and separation technologies.
Excellent documentation skills and ability to present technical information effectively.
