About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Process Development Scientist to enhance their Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) manufacturing processes in Bristol . This role is central to optimizing chemical synthesis routes, improving process efficiency, ensuring scalability, and maintaining the highest safety and quality standards. You will apply your expertise in organic chemistry and chemical engineering to develop robust and cost-effective manufacturing processes for new and existing APIs. This position offers a significant opportunity to impact the supply chain of critical medicines within a dedicated and innovative pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, optimize, and scale-up synthetic routes for Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs) from laboratory to pilot plant and commercial scale.
- Investigate and implement new process technologies to improve yield, purity, safety, and cost-effectiveness.
- Conduct process hazard analyses and implement appropriate safety measures.
- Utilize Process Analytical Technology (PAT) and Quality by Design (QbD) principles to ensure process understanding and control.
- Troubleshoot manufacturing issues and provide technical support for API production.
- Author technical reports, process descriptions, and relevant documentation for regulatory filings.
Requirements
- Ph.D. or Master's degree in Organic Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in process development and scale-up within the pharmaceutical or fine chemical industry.
- Strong knowledge of organic synthesis, reaction kinetics, thermodynamics, and process engineering principles.
- Experience with analytical techniques for process monitoring and control (e.g., GC, HPLC, NMR).
- Proven ability to manage projects effectively and work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.
