About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly motivated Process Development Scientist specializing in biologics to join their cutting-edge facility in Bradford, West Yorkshire . This role is integral to the advancement of innovative biopharmaceutical products, focusing on optimizing and scaling up manufacturing processes for therapeutic proteins and antibodies. You will be instrumental in translating laboratory discoveries into robust, reproducible manufacturing methods that ensure the highest quality and yield. Working within a collaborative team environment, you will leverage your expertise in upstream and downstream processing to overcome complex scientific challenges and contribute to the successful delivery of life-changing medicines.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, optimize, and scale-up bioprocesses for the manufacturing of therapeutic proteins, antibodies, and other biologics.
- Design and execute experiments for upstream (cell culture) and downstream (purification) process development.
- Characterize biopharmaceutical products and intermediates using various analytical techniques.
- Troubleshoot process issues and implement solutions to improve yield, purity, and consistency.
- Prepare technical reports, documentation, and presentations for internal stakeholders and regulatory submissions.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, analytical development, and quality assurance teams to ensure seamless process transfer and implementation.
Requirements
- PhD or Master's degree in Biochemical Engineering, Biotechnology, or a related life science field.
- Minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience in biologics process development and scale-up.
- Strong understanding of cell culture, fermentation, and/or chromatography principles.
- Experience with analytical methods for characterizing biologics, such as HPLC, ELISA, and spectroscopy.
- Knowledge of GMP regulations relevant to biopharmaceutical manufacturing.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and strong scientific documentation skills .
