About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly motivated Process Development Scientist to join their expanding manufacturing and development team in Portsmouth . This role is essential for optimising and scaling up the manufacturing processes for pharmaceutical products, ensuring efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness. You will play a key part in troubleshooting existing processes, developing new methodologies, and implementing robust scale-up strategies from laboratory to pilot and commercial production. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in chemical engineering or process chemistry and a passion for innovation in pharmaceutical manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute experiments to optimise existing pharmaceutical manufacturing processes for yield, purity, and efficiency.
- Develop and validate new manufacturing processes and analytical methods for drug substance and drug product.
- Lead scale-up activities, transferring processes from laboratory to pilot plant and commercial manufacturing scales.
- Troubleshoot process-related issues and implement corrective actions to ensure process consistency and robustness.
- Author process development reports, validation protocols, and other relevant documentation.
- Collaborate closely with engineering, manufacturing, and quality control teams to ensure successful process implementation.
Requirements
- PhD or MSc in Chemical Engineering, Process Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in process development within the pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical industry.
- Strong understanding of chemical engineering principles, reaction kinetics, and separation technologies.
- Experience with scale-up activities and technology transfer is essential.
- Proficiency in process analytical technology (PAT) and statistical process control (SPC) is advantageous.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and strong technical writing skills.
