Process Engineer - Speciality Chemicals

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Process Engineer with expertise in specialty chemicals to join their team in Plymouth, Devon . This role is central to optimizing our production of high-value chemical products, ensuring efficiency, quality, and safety in all operations. You will be involved in process troubleshooting, continuous improvement, and supporting capital projects. As an integral member of the site operations team, you will contribute to maintaining our reputation for excellence in chemical manufacturing. This is an on-site position vital to the ongoing success of our operations in Plymouth .

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and analyze chemical processes, identifying opportunities for yield improvement and cost reduction.
• Troubleshoot process deviations and implement effective solutions.
• Participate in the design and commissioning of new equipment and process upgrades.
• Develop and update process documentation, including SOPs and batch records.
• Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations.
• Collaborate with R&D to scale up new products and processes from lab to plant scale.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
• 2-4 years of experience in process engineering within the chemical industry, preferably specialty chemicals.
• Familiarity with process control systems and instrumentation.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a manufacturing environment.
• Understanding of quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001).
