About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated Process Improvement Engineer to join their facility in Birmingham . This role is crucial for driving operational efficiency and implementing best practices across manufacturing operations. You will work closely with the production team to identify bottlenecks, streamline workflows, and enhance overall output. The position offers a hybrid work model , balancing on-site collaboration with the flexibility of remote work. The successful candidate will be a proactive problem-solver committed to continuous improvement and making a tangible impact on the company's performance through data-driven strategies and innovative engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead initiatives to identify, analyze, and improve existing production processes, focusing on cost reduction and quality enhancement.
- Implement lean manufacturing principles and tools, such as Value Stream Mapping, 5S, and Kaizen events, to optimize operations.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions to ensure consistent process execution.
- Collect and analyze production data to identify trends, root causes of inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, quality, and maintenance, to implement process changes effectively.
- Train and mentor production staff on new processes and continuous improvement techniques.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- At least 3 years of experience in a process improvement or industrial engineering role, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated understanding and application of lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Proficiency in data analysis, statistical process control (SPC), and process mapping software.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and excellent communication skills for effective collaboration.
