About the Role
Our client is looking for a dedicated Process Safety Chemical Engineer to join their team in Edinburgh . This hybrid role is crucial for ensuring the highest standards of safety across all operations. You will be responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating process-related risks, working closely with engineering and operations teams. This position requires a meticulous approach to safety, a strong understanding of regulatory requirements, and the ability to effectively communicate complex safety protocols to diverse stakeholders, leveraging both in-person and remote collaboration tools.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) , including HAZOP, LOPA, and what-if studies.
- Develop and implement robust process safety management (PSM) systems and procedures.
- Perform incident investigations and root cause analyses (RCAs) for safety-related events.
- Ensure compliance with relevant health and safety regulations and industry standards.
- Provide technical support and training on process safety principles to site personnel.
- Review engineering designs and modifications for potential safety implications.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related safety-focused discipline.
- 5+ years of experience in process safety, engineering, or operations within the chemical or petrochemical industry.
- In-depth knowledge of HAZOP methodology and other risk assessment techniques.
- Familiarity with relevant safety standards (e.g., COMAH, OSHA PSM).
- Experience working in a hybrid environment with effective virtual communication.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to make critical safety recommendations.
