About the Role
Our client is actively seeking a highly competent Process Safety Engineer to enhance safety protocols within their Chemical Energy operations. This fully remote role allows you to contribute significantly to the safety culture and performance of a leading energy company from anywhere within the UK. You will be instrumental in identifying, assessing, and mitigating process-related hazards, ensuring compliance with stringent safety regulations and promoting best practices across all operational areas. This position is ideal for a safety-focused professional who thrives on proactively managing risks and implementing robust safety management systems in a challenging industrial environment, all within a flexible and supportive remote working setup.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct Hazard and Operability Studies (HAZOP) , Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA), and other risk assessment methodologies.
- Develop, implement, and maintain Process Safety Management (PSM) systems and procedures.
- Investigate incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with relevant national and international process safety regulations and standards.
- Develop and deliver process safety training programs to operational staff.
- Review engineering designs and modifications to ensure they meet process safety requirements.
Requirements
- Degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in process safety engineering, preferably within the chemical, oil, gas, or energy industry.
- In-depth knowledge of process safety principles , standards (e.g., Seveso III, COMAH), and risk assessment techniques.
- Experience with safety-critical equipment and systems.
- Proficiency in incident investigation and root cause analysis.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and influencing skills, with the ability to manage safety initiatives remotely.
