About the Role
Our client requires a dedicated Process Safety Engineer with expertise in the chemical industry to join their established team in Glasgow, Scotland, UK . This critical role focuses on ensuring the highest standards of safety are maintained across all chemical processes and operations. You will be responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating potential hazards, developing robust safety protocols, and promoting a strong safety culture. The successful candidate will play a vital part in safeguarding personnel, the environment, and the company's assets through diligent application of safety engineering principles.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), including HAZOP, LOPA, and FMEA studies.
- Develop and implement Process Safety Management (PSM) systems and programs in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Investigate process safety incidents, near misses, and deviations, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
- Develop and deliver process safety training to relevant personnel.
- Ensure compliance with relevant safety legislation and industry best practices for the chemical industry .
Requirements
- Degree in Chemical Engineering , Safety Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in process safety, specifically within the chemical manufacturing sector.
- In-depth knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM) principles and standards (e.g., OSHA PSM, Seveso Directive).
- Experience with risk assessment methodologies and safety software.
- Strong understanding of chemical processes and potential hazards associated with them, in the Glasgow area.
