Process Safety Engineer - Remote

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly motivated Process Safety Engineer to join their global team, operating remotely from Edinburgh or any other approved location. This role is integral to ensuring the highest standards of safety across their diverse Oil & Gas operations worldwide. You will be responsible for conducting safety studies, developing risk assessments, and implementing robust safety management systems. This position offers the unique advantage of working from home, contributing to critical safety initiatives, and collaborating with international teams in a fully remote capacity.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and participate in Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) studies and other risk assessment processes.
• Develop and implement robust process safety management (PSM) systems and procedures.
• Perform quantitative risk assessments (QRA) and consequence modeling.
• Review engineering designs and P&IDs for inherent safety and compliance with regulations.
• Investigate safety incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
• Provide technical expertise and guidance on process safety matters to project teams and operations.

Requirements

• Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Significant experience in process safety engineering within the Oil & Gas or chemical industries .
• Thorough understanding of PSM principles, HAZOP, LOPA, and SIL methodologies.
• Experience with relevant safety software and tools.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, particularly in a remote working context.
