Process Safety Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a diligent Process Safety Engineer to join their established team in Bradford . This crucial role is responsible for ensuring the highest standards of process safety across the company's operational facilities. You will conduct risk assessments, implement safety procedures, and drive continuous improvement in process safety management systems. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with operational and engineering teams to identify, evaluate, and mitigate process-related hazards, ensuring a safe working environment and compliance with all relevant regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Conducting Hazard and Operability (HAZOP ) studies, Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), and other risk assessment methodologies.
• Developing and implementing robust process safety management (PSM) systems and procedures.
• Investigating process safety incidents, near misses, and deviations to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Ensuring compliance with relevant safety regulations and industry standards (e.g., COMAH).
• Providing technical expertise and training on process safety principles to operational and engineering staff.
• Maintaining and updating safety-critical documentation, including P&IDs and safety manuals.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in process safety engineering, preferably within the energy or chemical industry.
• In-depth knowledge of HAZOP , LOPA, and SIL assessment techniques.
• Familiarity with relevant safety legislation and industry best practices.
• Experience with process safety software and documentation management systems.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to effectively communicate safety requirements.
