About the Role
Our client is seeking a vigilant and experienced Process Safety Engineer to enhance the safety integrity of their operations in Edinburgh . This critical role focuses on identifying, evaluating, and mitigating process-related hazards to ensure a safe working environment and prevent incidents. You will champion process safety best practices, conduct rigorous risk assessments, and develop robust safety management systems. This position offers the chance to significantly contribute to operational safety and risk management in a key industrial sector, working closely with operations and engineering teams to uphold the highest safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), including HAZOP, HAZID, and What-If studies.
- Develop and implement Process Safety Management (PSM) programs and procedures.
- Perform safety reviews for Management of Change (MOC) requests and pre-startup safety reviews (PSSRs).
- Investigate process safety incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with relevant safety regulations, standards (e.g., COMAH), and industry best practices.
- Develop and deliver process safety training to relevant personnel.
Requirements
- Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Significant experience (4+ years) in process safety engineering, ideally within chemical or process industries.
- In-depth knowledge of process safety principles, methodologies, and regulatory requirements.
- Experience with safety instrumented systems (SIS) and SIL assessments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills to promote a strong safety culture.
