Process Safety Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Process Safety Engineer to enhance and maintain the safety of their energy operations based in Coventry . This role is critical in ensuring compliance with stringent safety regulations and industry best practices, safeguarding personnel, assets, and the environment. You will be responsible for implementing and managing robust process safety management systems, conducting thorough risk assessments, and fostering a strong safety culture throughout the organization. This is a vital position within the operations department, directly impacting the integrity and reliability of our client's facilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage Process Safety Management (PSM) programs aligned with regulatory requirements.
• Conduct Hazard and Operability studies (HAZOP), Layers of Protection Analysis (LOPA), and other risk assessment techniques.
• Investigate incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and industry standards pertaining to process safety.
• Oversee the management of change (MOC) process for all modifications to existing processes.
• Provide technical expertise and guidance on process safety matters to engineering, operations, and maintenance teams.

Requirements

• Degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Significant experience (5+ years) in process safety engineering within the energy or petrochemical industry.
• In-depth knowledge of PSM elements, risk assessment methodologies, and safety case development.
• Familiarity with relevant UK and international safety regulations and standards.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and influencing skills.
