Process Safety Engineer

About the Role

Our client is looking for a dedicated Process Safety Engineer to join their operational team in Nottingham . This vital role focuses on ensuring the integrity and safety of all process operations within the company's facilities. You will be responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating process-related risks, developing safety procedures, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. Working closely with operations, engineering, and maintenance departments, you will champion a culture of safety and operational excellence. This position requires a proactive approach and a deep understanding of process safety principles within the chemical or oil and gas industries.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) such as HAZOP, LOPA, and HAZID studies.
• Develop and maintain Safety Integrity Level (SIL) assessments and documentation.
• Ensure compliance with relevant process safety regulations and industry best practices.
• Oversee Management of Change (MOC) processes to evaluate potential safety impacts of modifications.
• Develop and deliver process safety training programs to site personnel.
• Participate in incident investigations related to process safety events, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in process safety engineering, preferably in the oil & gas or chemical processing industries.
• In-depth knowledge of process safety management (PSM) principles and standards.
• Experience with PHA methodologies and risk assessment tools.
• Strong understanding of safety instrumented systems (SIS) and functional safety.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
