About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly motivated Process Safety Engineer to contribute to the safety and integrity of their operations, based in Bradford with hybrid working flexibility. This role focuses on identifying, assessing, and mitigating process-related hazards within the Oil & Gas facilities. You will be responsible for implementing robust process safety management (PSM) systems, conducting safety studies like HAZOP and LOPA, and ensuring that designs and operating procedures meet the highest safety standards. This is a crucial position for ensuring the safe and sustainable operation of complex industrial processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and participate in Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) such as HAZOP, LOPA, and What-If studies.
- Develop and maintain Process Safety Management (PSM) elements, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Perform quantitative risk assessments (QRA) and consequence modeling.
- Review engineering designs, P&IDs, and operating procedures for process safety implications.
- Develop and implement strategies for managing change (MOC) and ensuring mechanical integrity.
- Provide technical guidance and support on process safety matters to operations and project teams.
Requirements
- Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in process safety engineering, preferably within the Oil & Gas sector.
- In-depth knowledge of PSM principles, PHA methodologies, and risk assessment techniques.
- Familiarity with relevant industry codes and standards (e.g., OSHA PSM, EPA RMP, API RP 754).
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to effectively manage complex safety projects.
- Excellent report writing and presentation skills.
