Process Safety Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Process Safety Engineer to join their vital team in Brighton . This role is paramount to ensuring the safe operation of all chemical processes and facilities. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining robust process safety management systems, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring compliance with all relevant health and safety legislation. This is a critical position for an experienced safety professional committed to safeguarding people, assets, and the environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive Process Safety Management (PSM) programs.
• Conduct thorough Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), including HAZOP, LOPA, and FMEA studies.
• Investigate process safety incidents, near misses, and deviations, recommending and implementing corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant national and international process safety regulations and industry standards.
• Develop and deliver process safety training programs for plant personnel and management.
• Perform safety audits and inspections of plant equipment and procedures in Brighton .
• Maintain process safety information (PSI) and ensure its accuracy and accessibility.

Requirements

• Degree in Chemical Engineering , Safety Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Significant experience (7+ years) in process safety engineering within the chemical or process industries.
• In-depth knowledge of PSM elements (e.g., OSHA PSM, COMAH).
• Proven experience conducting various types of PHAs and risk assessments.
• Strong understanding of safety engineering principles, relief systems, and hazardous area classifications.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and report-writing skills.
