Process Safety Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Process Safety Engineer to bolster their safety operations in Leeds . This critical role ensures that all chemical processes and operations meet stringent safety standards, minimizing risks and preventing accidents. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring safety protocols, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring regulatory compliance across all sites. The successful candidate will play a key part in fostering a robust safety culture and safeguarding our employees and the environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive process safety management (PSM) programs.
• Conduct thorough hazard identification and risk assessments (e.g., HAZOP, LOPA).
• Investigate process safety incidents and near misses, determining root causes and recommending corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with relevant safety legislation and industry best practices.
• Develop and deliver safety training programs to plant personnel.
• Review process designs and modifications for safety implications before implementation.

Requirements

• Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related technical field.
• 5+ years of experience in process safety engineering within the chemical or petrochemical industry.
• In-depth knowledge of PSM elements, PHA methodologies, and safety engineering principles.
• Experience with safety instrumented systems (SIS) and emergency response planning.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex technical data.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders.
