Process Safety Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Process Safety Engineer to bolster their safety management systems within the Leeds, West Yorkshire, UK operations. This role is crucial for ensuring the integrity and safety of all chemical processing and handling activities, focusing on hazard identification, risk assessment, and the implementation of robust safety protocols. You will be a key advocate for process safety culture, working across various departments to minimize risks and prevent incidents. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), including HAZOP studies, LOPA, and What-If analyses.
• Develop and implement robust safety procedures, including Management of Change (MOC) and Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR).
• Monitor and audit compliance with process safety regulations and company standards.
• Investigate process safety incidents, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
• Develop and deliver process safety training programs to relevant personnel.
• Maintain process safety information, including P&IDs, SDS, and equipment integrity data.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in process safety within the chemical, petrochemical, or oil and gas industry.
• In-depth knowledge of process safety management (PSM) principles and standards (e.g., OSHA , COMAH).
• Experience with PHA software and risk assessment methodologies.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
