About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated and experienced Process Safety Engineer to enhance the safety culture and operational integrity of their facilities in Edinburgh . This vital role involves ensuring that all processes within the Oil & Gas operations meet stringent safety standards, minimizing risks of accidents and environmental incidents. You will conduct hazard identification, risk assessments, and develop safety management systems. Working closely with operations, engineering, and management teams, you will play a crucial part in maintaining a safe working environment and ensuring regulatory compliance. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct and facilitate Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) such as HAZOP, LOPA, and What-If studies.
- Develop, implement, and maintain Process Safety Management (PSM) systems and procedures.
- Perform safety integrity level (SIL) assessments and ensure compliance with relevant standards (e.g., IEC 61511).
- Investigate process safety incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
- Review engineering designs and modifications to ensure compliance with process safety requirements.
- Provide training and guidance to personnel on process safety principles and best practices.
Requirements
- Degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in process safety engineering , preferably within the Oil & Gas or chemical industries.
- Thorough understanding of process safety management principles, risk assessment methodologies, and relevant regulations.
- Experience with HAZOP facilitation and safety studies.
- Knowledge of safety instrumented systems (SIS) and their application.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to effectively communicate safety requirements.
