Process Safety Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a proactive Process Safety Engineer to join their dedicated team in Bristol, South West England . This role is paramount in ensuring the highest standards of safety across all Oil & Gas operations, focusing on hazard identification, risk assessment, and the implementation of robust safety management systems. You will play a key role in preventing major accidents and ensuring regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate possesses a strong technical background and a deep commitment to fostering a strong safety culture.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), such as HAZOP and LOPA studies, for new and existing facilities.
• Develop and implement Process Safety Management (PSM) programs and procedures.
• Investigate incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with relevant national and international process safety regulations.
• Review engineering designs and operational changes to assess process safety implications.
• Provide technical guidance and training on process safety principles to operational and engineering teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in process safety within the Oil & Gas industry .
• Proven experience conducting HAZOP, LOPA, and other risk assessment methodologies.
• Strong understanding of safety regulations and industry best practices (e.g., COMAH, OSHA PSM).
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
