Process Safety Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Process Safety Engineer to join their established team in Glasgow . This vital role focuses on ensuring the highest standards of process safety across all operations, preventing major accidents and protecting people and the environment. You will be responsible for implementing and managing process safety management systems, conducting risk assessments, and providing expert advice to operational and project teams. Your expertise will be crucial in maintaining a robust safety culture and ensuring regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) such as HAZOP, HAZID, and LOPA studies.
• Develop and implement Process Safety Management (PSM) programs.
• Review and approve designs for safety integrity and ensure compliance with safety standards.
• Investigate process safety incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
• Develop and deliver process safety training to relevant personnel.
• Maintain process safety documentation and ensure regulatory compliance.

Requirements

• Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in process safety engineering, ideally within the oil and gas or chemical industries.
• In-depth knowledge of PHA methodologies and safety system design.
• Familiarity with international process safety standards and regulations.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and influencing abilities.
