Process Safety Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Process Safety Engineer to join their expanding operations, supporting assets remotely across the UK. This critical role focuses on ensuring the highest standards of process safety are maintained throughout the lifecycle of oil and gas facilities. You will conduct risk assessments, develop safety procedures, and promote a strong safety culture, all while working from a remote location. Key Responsibilities

• Lead and participate in Hazard and Operability (HAZOP ) studies and other process hazard analyses (PHAs).
• Develop, implement, and maintain process safety management (PSM) systems and procedures.
• Conduct safety audits and inspections to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards.
• Investigate process safety incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
• Provide technical guidance and support on process safety matters to project teams and operational staff.
• Promote and champion a proactive safety culture across all levels of the organization.

Requirements

• Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in process safety engineering , ideally within the oil and gas industry.
• In-depth knowledge of process safety regulations, standards, and best practices (e.g., COMAH, Seveso).
• Experience conducting HAZOP, LOPA, and other risk assessment techniques.
• Excellent communication, influencing, and leadership skills.
• Ability to work autonomously and manage responsibilities effectively in a remote setting.
