Process Safety Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Process Safety Engineer to contribute to safety excellence within their operations in Portsmouth . This role is essential for identifying, assessing, and mitigating process-related risks to ensure the safety of personnel, the environment, and assets in the Oil & Gas industry . You will conduct hazard studies, implement safety management systems, and promote a robust safety culture. This hybrid role allows for collaboration with site teams while maintaining flexibility for remote work on specific tasks and analyses.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) such as HAZOP, LOPA, and FMEA.
• Develop and implement Process Safety Management (PSM) systems and procedures.
• Review engineering designs and modifications to ensure safety compliance.
• Investigate incidents and near misses to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Develop and deliver process safety training to relevant personnel.
• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for process safety and prepare reports for management.

Requirements

• Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience in process safety engineering, preferably within the Oil & Gas sector .
• Knowledge of relevant safety regulations and industry standards (e.g., OSHA PSM, Seveso).
• Proficiency in conducting risk assessments and hazard identification studies.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a hybrid capacity in Portsmouth .
