About the Role
Our client is looking for a dedicated Process Safety Engineer to join their esteemed team in Sunderland . This role is integral to ensuring the highest standards of safety are maintained across all chemical processing operations. You will play a key part in identifying, assessing, and mitigating process-related hazards, contributing to a safe and compliant working environment. The successful candidate will work closely with operational teams and management to implement robust safety protocols, making a significant contribution to the company's commitment to safety excellence in the North East .
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), including HAZOP, HAZID, and LOPA studies.
- Develop and implement process safety management (PSM) systems and procedures.
- Investigate incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
- Review designs for new processes and modifications to ensure compliance with safety regulations and company standards.
- Develop and deliver process safety training programs to operational staff and management.
- Maintain and update safety documentation, including safety case reports and emergency response plans.
Requirements
- A degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline with a strong focus on safety.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in process safety engineering within the chemical or petrochemical industry.
- In-depth knowledge of international process safety standards and best practices (e.g., OSHA PSM, Seveso Directive).
- Proven experience in conducting and facilitating PHAs.
- Excellent analytical, reporting, and communication skills.
- Ability to influence and collaborate with diverse teams at all levels of the organization.
