About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated Process Safety Engineer to join their esteemed team in Sheffield . This hybrid role involves a blend of on-site analysis and remote work, focusing on ensuring the highest standards of safety across all chemical operations. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing process safety programs, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. This is a vital position that requires a deep understanding of chemical processes and a commitment to preventing incidents and protecting personnel and the environment. You will play a key role in fostering a strong safety culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct and lead Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) , including HAZOP, What-If, and LOPA studies.
- Develop and implement process safety management (PSM) systems and procedures.
- Perform risk assessments and recommend mitigation strategies to reduce potential hazards.
- Ensure compliance with relevant national and international safety regulations and standards.
- Investigate process safety incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
- Provide training and guidance on process safety principles and practices to engineering and operational staff.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in process safety engineering within the chemical industry.
- In-depth knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM) elements.
- Proven experience in conducting and facilitating HAZOP studies and other risk assessments.
- Familiarity with safety instrumented systems (SIS) and relief system design.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills for a hybrid work environment.
