Process Safety Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Process Safety Engineer to enhance safety protocols and standards within their operations in Stoke-on-Trent . This role is paramount in identifying, assessing, and mitigating process-related hazards across their Oil & Gas facilities . You will lead risk assessments, develop safety procedures, and ensure compliance with stringent safety regulations. This hybrid position allows for both on-site assessments and remote analysis, offering a dynamic work environment focused on safeguarding personnel and assets.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct Hazard and Operability studies (HAZOP) and other risk assessments.
• Develop and implement process safety management (PSM) systems.
• Investigate incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with relevant health and safety legislation and industry standards.
• Develop and deliver safety training programs to operational staff.
• Maintain process safety information and documentation.

Requirements

• Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proven experience as a Process Safety Engineer in the Oil & Gas industry or similar high-hazard sector.
• In-depth knowledge of process safety principles and standards (e.g., OSHA PSM, COMAH).
• Experience with risk assessment methodologies.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and influencing skills.
