Procurement Manager

Our client is seeking a strategic and experienced Procurement Manager to lead their purchasing function in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear . This leadership role involves overseeing all aspects of the procurement process, from category strategy development to supplier relationship management, ensuring maximum value and efficiency for the organisation. You will be responsible for building and mentoring a high-performing procurement team, driving cost savings initiatives, and mitigating supply chain risks. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute comprehensive procurement strategies across various spend categories.
• Lead and manage the procurement team, fostering a culture of performance and continuous improvement.
• Oversee complex negotiations with key suppliers and manage high-value contracts.
• Implement robust risk management strategies within the supply chain.
• Drive significant cost reduction initiatives through effective sourcing and supplier management.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant procurement regulations and company policies.
• Collaborate with senior management to align procurement objectives with overall business goals.

Requirements

• Extensive experience (7+ years) in strategic procurement and supply chain management, with at least 3 years in a management role.
• Proven track record of delivering substantial cost savings and improving procurement processes.
• Strong leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
• In-depth knowledge of contract law, risk assessment, and best practice procurement methodologies.
• Experience with e-procurement systems and advanced data analysis.
• MCIPS or equivalent professional qualification is highly desirable.
