About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced and strategic Procurement Manager to lead their purchasing function in Stoke-on-Trent . This senior role is responsible for developing and implementing procurement strategies, managing supplier relationships, and driving cost savings across the organisation. You will lead a small team of procurement professionals, ensuring the efficient and ethical acquisition of goods and services. This hybrid position requires a balance of strategic leadership, hands-on management, and collaborative engagement with various departments, contributing to the company's overall success.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute comprehensive procurement strategies aligned with business objectives and market conditions.
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of procurement specialists and buyers.
- Oversee the negotiation of high-value contracts and manage key supplier relationships to ensure optimal terms and performance.
- Conduct regular market analysis to identify cost-saving opportunities and manage supply chain risks effectively.
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for the procurement function and report on performance to senior management.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant procurement policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- Significant experience (7+ years) in a managerial role within procurement or purchasing.
- Proven track record in strategic sourcing, category management, and complex contract negotiation.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop staff.
- Excellent understanding of supply chain management, risk mitigation, and best practices in procurement.
- Strong financial acumen and the ability to manage budgets effectively.
- MCIPS or equivalent professional qualification is highly desirable.
