Job Description
The Company Our client is a well-established roofing and cladding contractor operating across the North East, working on projects for principal/Tier 1 contractors. It's a relaxed, sociable working culture.
The Role
Due to continued growth, our client is looking to appoint a Procurement Manager to take ownership of material and plant purchasing across live projects. This is a newly created role bringing together buying and contracts coordination into one position, working closely with the existing Contracts Manager, site teams and suppliers.
Key Responsibilities
- Take full ownership of material and plant procurement across live projects, in line with programme requirements
- Coordinate deliveries, maintain stock records and liaise with the warehouse manager, suppliers and the in-house fabrication team
- Build and maintain key supplier relationships, including regular spend reviews and developing new suppliers
- Develop bulk buying programmes for key and preliminary materials
- Maintain accurate project documentation, schedules and progress reports
- Manage the commercial side of procurement — obtaining quotes, signing off invoices and agreeing supplier credit limits
- Act as the key point of contact between the project team and suppliers, resolving any issues or delays
- Support the Contracts Manager with day-to-day project coordination
What We're Looking For
- Experience in buying, procurement, contracts coordination or project administration — construction industry background preferred
- Comfortable managing change and adapting to a growing, evolving business
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- A confident communicator, happy to pick up the phone rather than rely solely on email
- Proficient in Microsoft Office/Excel; experience with project management software is an advantage
